An inconstant record...

Music + Sun + Breeze = Good

Yesterday Buenos Aires kicked off its free summer concert series with a show by Vincentico, the fabulous ex lead singer of Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. It was a beautiful evening in the park, and thousands of porteños gathered out on the grass, drinking mate and beer, eating empanadas, and mostly just chilling and having a great time. The scene reminded me of many a free concert in Golden Gate Park, with one significant difference: the show began at nearly 9:00 on a Sunday night. If it were the States, this show would have started at 2 and wrapped up by 5 or 6, in time for people to go home and get to bed nice and early. Not that I don't love the schedule and lifestyle here, but don't these people have to get up and work in the morning?!

In other news, I've discovered the absolute perfect air temperature:

Whatever temperature it was at 9:25 PM in Buenos Aires last night is the exact temperature - with a very slight breeze - that I think it should be forever, night and day, for the rest of my life. Walking slowly through the park on my way home felt like swimming in a mellow current of crystal clear airy deliciousness... with the occasional blast of diesel exhaust from the colectivos (alas, nothing's perfect).

Suffice it to say it was a very nice night.
